2FA - 2 Factor Authentication

When you log in to an account protected by 2FA, you typically need:

  • Something you know (your password)
  • Something you have (your phone, authentication app, or security key)

For example:

  • Enter your email and password.
  • The website requests a verification code.
  • You enter the code from your authentication app.
  • Access is granted.

Even if someone steals your password, they cannot log in without the second factor.

To setup 2FA please do following steps:

  1. Download Google Authenticator app or Authy app:

    For iOS:
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-authenticator/id388497605
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/twilio-authy/id494168017

    For Android:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.authy.authy&hl=en

  2. Click setup 2FA from the website, you will be presented a QR code to scan. Scan it with Google Authenticator app or Authy app. You will see a random numbers reset after 30 seconds. This is your random "OTP".
  3. Enter those number to the screen, you will be presented the backup codes. If you lose access to your google authenticator, you can use those backup codes. But you can only use each code one time only. Save it into a safe place.
  4. If you lose your authenticator app and back up codes, please contact admin.
  5. Now everytime you want to login, you will be presented another screen to enter your "OTP" from authenticator app.

If you are using iOS, you don't have to install above apps. iOS has built in 2FA feature for this. Please do the following steps:

  1. Click setup 2FA from the website, you will be presented a QR code to scan. Scan it with your camera. Password manager will be showing.
  2. You will see "Add verification code" screen. Click plus sign on the top right corner, then you need to type your username and password to save it to your iphone. Add website's url to make username and password auto filled when you want to login to that website, then click save.
  3. You will see a random numbers reset after 30 seconds. This is your random "OTP".
  4. Enter those number to the screen, you will be presented the backup codes. If you lose access to your google authenticator, you can use those backup codes. But you can only use each code one time only. Save it into a safe place.
  5. In the future, if you need to login and need to enter authentication code, search for "password" app on your iphone, then open it. Search for the website url that you have saved when you setup 2FA. When you click it you will see "verification code" that reset every 30 seconds. Enter it into the form.
